How To Apply

How to Apply for the USC MS in Marketing Program

Begin the online application by registering yourself in the online application system.

Once you have registered, start your application by following the instructions and filling out the online form.

1. Program Term
Select the ‘summer’ term in the online application in order to find the program on the application menu. The Master of Science in Marketing program begins only in the summer.

2. Program Start Date
All applicants must be able to join the program in May. We do not defer admission to fall or spring semesters because core courses are offered only in the summer. Therefore, only students who are able to complete their previous degrees before orientation begins in May are eligible to apply to this program.

3. GMAT and PTE
GMAT and PTE scores must be issued directly to USC by the GMAT testing service using the Marshall MBA school code - 389-9C-23. Scores must be from tests taken within the last five years. When searching for the MS in Marketing program on the GMAT site, you can enter "University of Southern California" and choose the Marshall MBA Full Time Program. Alternatively, simply enter the school code 389-9C-23.

4. GRE and TOEFL
GRE and TOEFL test scores must be sent by the Educational Testing Service directly to USC (school code 4852).

5. Letters of recommendation
Recommendation letters should be processed through the electronic "Recommendations" section of the online application system. Two letters of recommendation are required. They are used as a gauge of your academic and professional achievements and managerial and leadership potential. We prefer that one of your letters of recommendation be provided by a direct supervisor. This person should provide specific observations and examples of your leadership, teamwork, analytical skills and personal qualities. Your letters of recommendation must be submitted online.

6. Transcripts
We encourage applicants to upload official copies of transcripts to their online application. This facilitates a preliminary file review. While the Admissions Committee can review an application with scanned official transcripts, a final decision cannot be rendered until official transcripts have been received and evaluated by the USC Office of Graduate Admissions.

If all college or postgraduate work has not been completed, transcripts must be sent again when work in progress is completed and the degree is posted.
Transcripts written in languages other than English must be accompanied by a certified English translation.

International applicants: Please ask your undergraduate institution to include an explanation of the grading system and information about how the transcript should be assessed.

Applicants are required to submit complete, sealed, official transcripts from all prior universities attended. These transcripts may be mailed to you first or mailed directly to the University of Southern California. In either case, the transcripts must be received by the USC Office of Graduate Admission in their original sealed envelope.

Some applicants may also direct their universities to e-send their official transcripts. Please consult the Graduation Admissions page regarding official transcripts here:

Applicants may use the form provided with the online application to request that undergraduate (bachelor's degree) transcripts be sent directly to the mailing address below:

8. Reapplication
Applicants denied admission in any round of the application process must wait until the following academic year to reapply. Applicants who are admitted to USC Marshall but are unable to attend will not be deferred to the following academic year. You must follow the instructions for reapplicants.
