At Marshall, we believe in exposing students to research early in the program and providing all the necessary support to prepare students for conducting top quality research. This includes providing resources such as state of the art computers/information systems support, innumerable research databases, behavioral labs, research grants and industry access. It also includes working with faculty on research projects, and receiving the necessary training, guidance and mentorship from a top-flight researcher.

Many of our Ph.D. students will publish at least one top journal paper along with faculty prior to graduation.

Anthony Dukes

Anthony Dukes
Professor of Marketing

 

Dukes uses economic methodologies to study firms’ marketing strategies, particularly as it applies of pricing, online and offline retailing, and the use of consumer data. He has collaborated with Ph.D. students on research that has appeared in the Journal of Marketing Research, Marketing Science, Management Science, and other leading academic journals. He also serves as an Associate Editor at the Journal of Marketing Research, Marketing Science, and Management Science.

Maria Ogneva

Maria Ogneva
Marshall Graduate: 2007

 

Maria’s research output during her Ph.D. program was exceptional. She started working on research with her advisor from the beginning of the second year in the program, and published three papers in top accounting journals (The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Review of Accounting Studies) prior to graduation. Maria also commenced working on a project with finance faculty during her Ph.D. that was subsequently published in a top finance journal (Journal of Finance). Finally, she wrote an excellent dissertation that was subsequently published in The Accounting Review. Her exceptional talents were recognized in the job market; Maria received tenure-track offers from both MIT and Stanford.
