Our Impact

The Brittingham Social Enterprise Lab (BSEL) at USC Marshall was the first business school to establish a Master of Science of Social Entrepreneurship, and we were one of only a handful of business schools worldwide investing in social impact education in 2008.

Building the Social Impact Ecosystem

Since the launch of our innovative programming, BSEL has been fundamentally advancing the conversation on what it means to be a business leader in the 21st Century.  Through our Annual Social Entrepreneurship Conference, we provide a platform for researchers and practitioners across the globe to connect, share best practices, and expand their social impact footprint.  It is through this community that we have been able to support the expansion of social impact education inside and outside of the classroom.

Educating the Next Generation of Social Entrepreneurs

Since 2008, we have educated and supported approximately 13,000 social entrepreneurial  students from over 25 countries.

We invest in graduate and undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds with inspiring goals and different life experiences.  On average, over 40 percent of our students have been first-generation or under-represented students.  Learn more about our Master of Science in Social Entrepreneurship student profile over the years.  Whether graduate or undergraduate students, they come to us with a yearning to create a difference in their communities.  And they graduate with the business skills, tools, and networks to implement their market-based solutions to the wicked problems of the 21st century.

After graduating, over 80 percent of our alumni work in social impact jobs!  Many of our students have gone on to found social enterprises, and through the BSEL Social Venture Coaching Competition, we have awarded over $350K in seed funding.

And we are just getting started. Each year, we reach approximately 1,500 students with our social impact programming!
