Back for my Junior year

Just Walking Around Campus: Being a student at USC is like no other. The whole school feels like one big family. The campus is beautiful and the academics are top notch. Just walking around campus is such a great feeling that I can’t take it for granted. Unfortunately, we were sent home by COVID during the second half of spring semester my freshman year. It was difficult to all of a sudden be forced to pack up my whole dorm room and leave campus. But now it's a blessing to be back on campus and see friends that I haven’t connected with since freshman year. Not many other schools offer such a perfect balance between academic and extracurricular activities. The energy on this campus is unmatched and students truly love being here. Also, being from Ohio, the weather is a great perk as well.

Academics: USC offers a distinct in-class experience that’s unlike other universities around the country. This semester, I get to engage with my classmates and learn in the great atmosphere that Marshall provides us. Professors are open and willing to help students in any way they can and make the effort to be available in person as well as virtually. This semester, I’m taking classes while I continue building a startup stock analysis app that I have been working on for the past year. My professors have been understanding of my entrepreneurial goals and have provided me the necessary resources to ensure my success in their classes.

Football Games: Growing up as a kid in Columbus, Ohio, you’re basically forced to love football from birth. I knew when I went to college that my school had a great gameday environment and we had chances to compete at the highest levels of the game. USC fit this exact archetype. USC’s athletic programs are top notch and really bring all the students together. I love being able to attend all the home games and see my friends and other fans who truly love this school. There’s a distinct universal pride shared by everyone who has attended USC and a desire to make it the best in the nation.  At USC, academics and athletics are elite.

Professional Opportunities: Since we’ve returned to campus, Marshall is back to offering a flurry of in person recruiting events to give students valuable opportunities to earn internships and jobs. Firms specializing in accounting, consulting, finance, fin-tech, insurance, investment banking, marketing/sales, and real estate are all attending various recruitment events. Having attended a few of them, it’s great to be offered an opportunity to make connections and start advancing my professional career. This has given me and other students an opportunity to practice our elevator pitches and familiarize ourselves with industries that could be of interest to us. In addition, Marshall provides "Trojan Talks" several times per week. They’re a great opportunity to hear an industry expert explain their job and are willing to share advice to current students. Many of these speakers are alumni who are invaluable to the Trojan Network.

Overall, I'm so glad to be back on campus for my Junior year!
